One of the more specific items on big girl’s summer list was to go to the mall and ride the train ride. Although it may not sound very exciting or maybe might not even sound like a lot of fun, I remember that when I was little, things like riding the train ride or the car ride or whatever at the mall was a big deal and a big treat for me. I wanted to give my girls the same treat.
Although, riding the train is not very expensive (I think it’s only $2 to ride), on Tuesdays riding the train is free at the mall. So, the girls both rode on the train, then we stopped so that we could get dinner at Noodles & Co. (yay for buttered noodles), and then the girls both rode on the train one more time before we left the mall.
The summer checklist thus far:
Go to the library. Go to the pool. Make banana pudding. Ride the train at the mall. Go to the playground.
- Make cookies.
Go downtown. Go on a hike. Have a picnic. Go to American Girl Place. Go to the beach. Go to the zoo. Eat at Flat Top Grill. Read books. Eat at Noodles & Company.
- Get ice cream.
Go to the splash pads downtown.
- Go to the water park.
Go to a festival. Go to the movie theater.
- Play on the McDonalds playground after lunch.
Go to family fun festival downtown. Go to the Art Museum and go to the kids area after looking at paintings. Go to the dinosaur museum (Field Museum). Go to the space museum (Adler Planetarium). Have a pajama day.(Although big girl has now requested that we have 100 pajama days.)
