Hotel beds are amazing. The mattresses always feel perfect. The sheets have some sort of spectacular thread count. But, perhaps my favorite part of staying in a hotel is that, well, it’s not your bed. Obviously. But, bear with me on this one. We recently had a staycation of sorts and stayed at Pheasant Run. Our hotel room was huge with lots of space for our family of four, even with the rollaway bed that was brought in for baby girl. The pools were nice. (The indoor/outdoor pool was a big hit.) And the workout facility was nice with lots of equipment to use.
But, perhaps my favorite part, was just climbing into bed at the end of the night, watching some Food Network and eating cookies. In bed.
Yep. Now, will I eat cookies in bed at home? Goodness, no! Crumbs! Crumbs everywhere! But, when staying at a hotel, this is one of my favorite things to do. Climb into the comfy bed, watch a few shows, and eat some junk food. *sigh*
What’s your favorite part of a staycation?
I purchased this rocker at a yard sale for $5. I love it! Baby girl loves it! The cat…..loves it! The actual seat part is the perfect size for her. So once again, Buddy has claimed another piece of furniture as her own.
No, seriously. Mine.
Why is it when the cat chooses to sit on the chair in the corner…a chair that currently has three different blankets to choose from….why does she choose to sleep on the baby’s swaddling blanket instead?
Monday morning, we had a very special delivery. Big girl’s big-girl-mattress and Mommy and Daddy’s new mattress arrived. So far the transition to big-girl bed has gone a lot smoother than I thought it would. It actually helps that she hasn’t taken really great naps during the day. That way, she is much more tired at bed time and less likely to run around her room. Although….she did spend the first 15 minutes of bedtime on Monday running in her room and then jumping back into bed when I opened the door.
Big Girl’s Big Bed. Well, actually just her mattress. Once she masters the mattress, we’ll bring her twin bed in.
Today we purchased new mattresses – twin size for little girl and queen size for us. For someone (me) who has only ever had twin or full sized mattresses, this is a huge deal! That also means that we are in the process of completing some of the tasks that I wrote about in yesterday’s post. The mattresses will be delivered tomorrow so we can begin to have little girl sleep on her new mattresses with her new sheets and blanket. And, Ryan has been moving furniture and other miscellaneous stuff into the garage to prep for the new mattresses coming tomorrow. So yay!
Seriously. Cats have the best life in the world. If I could come back in another life as any animal, I would definitely choose a house cat. All that they do is eat, poop, sleep, eat, sleep, eat, drink, chase a shadow or an insect, eat, sleep, yawn, sleep. That’s a difficult life, right?
Recently, I have been having a hard time sleeping soundly. I toss and turn but can’t get really comfortable in bed. Ryan and I are going to try to set up our big comfy chair in a way that would be comfy for sleeping.
While I’m thinking about when I’ll try to go to sleep tonight, I look around and realize that this is not a problem that cats ever have.
Even the most uncomfortable looking spots can be made comfortable by a cat.
Shoe box? Or comfy bed?
Oh well. Hopefully, tonight I’ll only wake up a couple times. And when I do, hopefully, I won’t trip on a sleeping cat.
